This year, the largest puppet theater in Serbia is celebrating 50 years of existence. The solemn celebration on the jubilee was held on Friday, April 1, 2022.
The celebration, whose slogan "Half a Century in the Game" was held on April 1, 2022, was accompanied by a concert by the Police Orchestra of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. The celebration continued in the theater hall, where the awards ceremony was held, followed by the premiere performance of the ensemble play "Fairy Tale of the Enchanted Beauty", directed by Slavcho Malenova from Bulgaria. After the play, the celebration continues in the foyer of the theater with a festive cocktail party.
The Pinocchio Puppet Theater was founded by Zivomir Jokovic as a traveling puppet Theater performance in 1972. It got its headquarters in Zemun, at the Workers' University, in 1973, when it changed its name to the Pinocchio Puppet Theater. During the summer of 2014, the Theater moved to New Belgrade, to the building of the former cinema "Yugoslavia", which was awarded to the Theater by the Assembly of the City of Belgrade for 20 years of use. Today, the Pinocchio Puppet Theater is the only professional puppet theater in Belgrade and represents one of the most important children's cultural institutions in Serbia.
